Maxfield Bala: Turning an artist’s process into a story that builds trust and drives opportunity

Max Bala, a Northern California muralist, wanted to better communicate the depth of his work—not just the finished murals, but the process, craftsmanship, and collaboration behind each project.

While his work was strong, the story behind it wasn’t being captured in a way that built trust with prospective clients.

My objective was to communicate my process, showcase my abilities as a prominent artist, and highlight my working relationships with my clients.

We approached the project by structuring the story around both the work and the way it’s created—capturing a full-scale mural project from concept through completion.

From the beginning, the process was intentional.

There was a clear approach and organization to the entire process. We incorporated shot lists, interviews, and timelapses into the narrative… telling the story of the project, but also who I am as an artist.

Rather than disrupting the workflow, production was built around it.

As a mural painter, I’m subject to the elements… but Speek worked around those complications and catered to my workflow. I never felt interrupted—the entire process felt natural and easy.

The result wasn’t just a film—it was a shift in how the work is perceived.

Before working with Speek I was unable to capture the artistic process at even a fraction of the quality level. The production allowed the entire process to be shared in such a captivating way.

More importantly, it became a tool for growth.

The video now serves as a referral to my professionalism, communication, process, and collaboration… It adds an additional level of trust I can provide when estimating projects.

By revealing the thinking, collaboration, and execution behind the work, the film positioned Max not just as an artist—but as a professional partner clients can վստահ.

Working with Speek has serious potential to grow your business. I highly recommend their services.
